Johnny Hunkins -
Glad to see your next project car is an underappreciated Mopar A-body.  The SoCal Mopar car club I belong to built a '68 Valiant as our charity project car in 2008.  When complete, our "Valiant 400" featured a 400" big block/727/8-3/4 drivetrain, RMS AlterKtion front and Street Lynx rear suspension, custom paint and new Legendary interior.  All the proceeds from the car benefited the California School For The Deaf in Riverside, CA.
Email me your email address and I'll forward pics of the finished car and our club website where you can see under-construction pics.

After receiving my issue of PHR today and seeing all the engines from the Engine Masters Challenge, I thought it would be great to see the engine for the Valiant built as if it were going to compete in the Challenge. We could see how it scored and then watch to see how it survives with real street use. I love the Challenge, but we don't see much of what happens to the engines afterwards. I am all about anything Mopar and am glad to see you building one in your(our) magazine. Popular Hot Rodding is my favorite magazine and the only one I subscribe to. Keep up the great articles.

That's precisely what I tried to talk Johnny into at this years EMC. I fielded the 417 stroker smallblock Mopar at this years event. With 10.3 compression and EZE-EFI I thought it was a natural for Project Valiant--Oh and 550+hp and 540 ft/lbs would have sufficed I think. I really tried to talk him into it but to no avail. Johnny was set on a big block build. Maybe next year then. J.Rob (team SKMFX)

Y'know, just to stir the pot up action magazine ran a valiant (effort) called the Green Brick in one lap of america...their website may still detail the build on a car that went up against vipers and ferarris...
Just because you can't do it...doesn't mean its impossible
