We’re very excited about the results of this year’s photo contest. It turned out to be more popular than anyone ever imagined, with hundreds of entries received. We have to give major props to Nitto Tires for stepping up with an awesome Grand Prize—a set of four Nitto tires of the winner’s choice. We’re guessing that was part of the outstanding response, but it may also be partly due to the fact that we promised to publish every single entry we got that met all our contest rules.

When we rolled out the contest, we promised that we’d announce the winner on September 10th, however, due to the sheer number of entries, it is not possible for us to make a decision by then. There are so many good ones that we’re going to need some extra time to sort through them, so we’re pushing back our announcement to September 22. This will give us enough time to examine each entry with the care it deserves!

I’d like to personally thank all those folks who took the time to enter our photo contest. You’ve made this year’s event the best one yet. We know you’re looking forward to seeing the January issue with the complete results, which will be on the newsstand November 24. If you entered the contest, and are waiting for the Grand Prize announcement, please check back here on September 22!

Unfortunately, due to the number of entries, I am not able to respond individually to each of you. I know you may have questions, such as "did you get my entry?" or "did I finish in the top 20?"

All I can promise is that if you follow all the contest directions, we will publish your car photo! We are actually contemplating dividing them up between the January and March issues in order to give the entries more room, but that hasn't been decided yet. In either case, if you provided us with five (5) different high-resolution jpg images, five (5) matching color prints (on photo print paper) of those images, a legible one-page printed cover letter, a legible completed and signed tech sheet, you sent in just one entry, and got your entry in by the September 1 deadline, we're going to get you in there.

Are you printing all 5 of the submitted photos, or just 1 photo of each entry? What if 4 of the 5 photos matched the rules, but 1 of those 5 did not? Was it still DQ'd?

Actually, thanks for the compliment, although the winning car was built in my garage with the help of some good friends, a couple floor jacks, a cherry picker, and basic hand tools. No, I didn't paint the car, but I did assemble just about everything myself. The only things I didn't install myself are the DSE quadralink, and the brakes were on the car when i bought it. Ive changed the entire drive train, alot of the interior, alot of wiring, tires and wheels, had the motor assembled at a machine shop. I chose all the parts that would make up the drivetrain. I've got pictures up on Lateral-G also. I never actually thought the car would make any magazine. I'm actually about to take the car back to the paint shop for some touch ups.
My wife actually helped on the build too!

The winning picture was taken in a new commercial parking lot, it was about 8:00pm right before sunset. I bought the car in a crappy running, driving condition for $25,000. I think I overpaid for it, although it did already have the 4-link, disc brakes, and RS package. It was originally a 4speed car. The rest of the car was either replaced, rebuilt or updated by myself and some friends. I've never added up receipts to know exactly how much i have in the car. I just guessed, Do people really add up their receipts? I'm afraid to! Honestly, my wife is the one who talked me into giving the car a chance, and i'm glad i did. She and I both really enjoy the car. My camaro club seems to like it too. I took the picture myself.

Hey Wiredhomes....

Congtaulations on the win, it sure was deserving!

I guess I'm one of those people who do add receipts up. I been saving mine in a file for the past 13 years and finally got around to adding them out for the contest. Didn't hurt near as bad as I thought it would considering all the fun we've had out of the old heap all these years.

Once again, good job.
