Chevy small block timing

My dad built this small block 350 bored 30 over. Well he passed away a few years ago. Anyway I've pulled the motor out of the car he put it in. so i could clean up the engine bay and paint the engine. Anyway my problem is this, I dont know how to use a timing gun, or really anything about timing. So I'm apprehensive about dropping it back in the car. If anybody thinks they can help me out it would be appreciated.

Setting the timing correctly on an engine may seem like black magic to some people. The folks at MSD Ignition realized this and have designed an excellent website dedicated to setting your timing. Check it out at: www.setyourtiming.com
