I had a set of Lemons Headers made for my F Body to fit a 454 with a standard deck height of 9.8" ---- My plans are to drop a new Chevy 572 in the car and my question is will the Chevy 572 be any wider when it sits in the engine bay? I realize the 572 is a tall deck and will sit 3/8's of an inch taller, but will it be any wider?
Also, will the flanges that attach to the head of the 572 be compatible to the headers that were initially made for the 454?
THANK YOU to everyone that can offer any information.

Not wider but taller, and that means those headers are going to mount up higher also. I have read of many nightmares of installing tall decks in Corvettes, so I'm assuming F bodies are not that far behind. See this link: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-tech-performance/2301208-tall-deck-or-short-deck.html
Also, if your considering tall deck heads here is an interesting forum from sister publication Chevy High Performance: http://forums.chevyhiperformance.com/70/7712850/car-engine/tall-deck-heads/index.html
Hope the info helps.

How much of a "block hugger style" (think Sanderson's style) are these headers? Will they clear your steering column? Will your engine mounts allow for any moving of the engine to gain some clearance?

Forget the 572. It's under-powered and overrated anyways. I was having the same problem with my Second Gen F-body until I found a 9.8-deck engine that's practically the same price, but even more powerful, and with a 2-year warranty! Over 730hp and over 650tq on pump gas!
Check out this engine: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190252363751&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT

I was considering the GM 572 but have since decided that an engine from Scott Shafiroff Racing Engines in Bohemia, NY has caught my attention. Thanks to all of you for the input.
