I have a 250 6cyl....There's a piece that is located and bolted to the head in the front of the motor...it connect to the water inlet from the radiator...can some give me a name for the part...or where I can get one...Thanks
the water inlet from the radiator is the lower hose and it attaches to the water pumpthe water outlet to the radiator is the upper hose and it attaches to the thermostat housingjunkyard or parts storeat one you pick what you want...at the other you tell them what you need and they pull it from the shelfthe parts store will help you match it up if you need help
I guess what I'm looking for is the piece that bolted to water outlet that comes off the head to the thermostat housing..thanks..
this is for a 1966 ..250 chevy motor
it's a universal design..they all pretty much work the same way...american, japanese, korean, european, etc...will the part fit in the palm of your hand?....thermostat housingdoes it take all of one hand/arm and some help from the other to pick up?...water pump...well you did say it was an I6, water pump may not be that heavydoes it have a v-belt/pulley?...yes-water pump...no-thermostat housing
I believe the part you're referring to is called a thermostat housing adapter or water outlet adapter. This picture link shows an elbow adapter below the t-stat cover that bolts to the head: http://59classicchevy.com/images/1959-6cylinder.jpgHere is another link that clearly shows this adapter: http://www.qualitymosaics.com/DMV/DJ5/engine3.jpgI couldn't find a source for new ones and had zero luck on eBay, so a wrecking yard or swap meet will probably be your best bet.Hope this helps.
