I have been buying performance parts for about twenty years. If their anything that I've learned, It's to shop around first! I recently came across a web site that caught my eye. It was based on a search on high performance engines. I found out that these companys (summit & Jegs)are actually taking advantage of people. They not only make a profit off of us, they jack there prices up an additonal 5 to 25 percent on top of that. THIS IS A FACT AND CAN'T BE DISPUTED, I DONT CARE WHAT THEY SAY, YOUR BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF IF YOU BUY PARTS FROM THEM! HERE IS AN EXAMPLE: (SCOTT SHAFIROFF RACING) SELLS EAGLE ROTATING KITS FOR $1,995.00 AND FREE SHIPPING. THE SAME EXACT KIT FROM JEGS AND SUMMIT GO FOR $2,215.99 AND YOU HAVE TO PAY (OVERSIZED TRUCK FREIGHT) " YOU SEE MY POINT!" SOMEBODY HAS TO TAKE A STAND, WHEN THEY FIND OUT WE ARE TIRED OF THIS AND WE CAN GET THE SAME PARTS AT A CHEAPER PRICE WITH FREE SHIPPING, THEY WILL BE FORCED TO COMPETE. WHICH WILL RESULT IN MORE AFFORDABLE PARTS FOR ALL OF US. PLEASE, HELP ME STOP THEM FROM MAKING MILLIONS OFF OF THE HOBBY WE LOVE SO MUCH! TAKE CARE AND KEEP BURNIN' RUBBA'

Summit needs your extra money so they can build really expensive race cars and stuff, thats why.

I sold auto parts for over 15 years, and even worked at a speed shop. Years ago you only had a few options, like Super Shops or a local speed shop. Now you have multiple choices. Super Shops is back in business, there are still many local speed shops, and mail order houses like Jegs, Summit, and Herbert Performance Centers. When shopping for parts, a little homework on your part will save you some cash. I even wrote an article on shopping for auto parts on my blog:

"Parts is parts" is not always the case, as I'm sure you already know. One stop shopping is convenient but that is what the retailers want. They mark down one part but make up for it when you purchase other items. Always shop around for the best deal, it will definitely save you some of your hard earned money. . .
