Looking to build a rear engine-rear drive lightwieght using a 71 eldorado 500c.i. engine and transaxle which I have and want to utilize. Has this been done (old articles)? Suggestions and ideas appreciated, and I'm hoping to have something that looks a little like an ac cobra or a viper but easily pulls wheelstands and costs only a fraction...

Check out the KitCar magazines. The problem with swapping FWD, is keeping those wheels that were meant to turn left to right, going straight during the entire range of suspension movement when they drop into a pothole or go up a speedbump. And you need a radiator placed where its gonna get cool air.
consider the 4.1 liter Cad FWD's. they are more compact than the 8.2 liter package, they are aluminum, fuel injected....not as sexy, perhaps, but you may find they solve some problems.
