I've just gotten word from one of my local car buddies that my GTA is indeed in the August '09 issue, & from what he's said, it looks pretty good! (Can't seem to find an issue for myself yet, despite the fact that I've been looking all over.)

Anyway, I'm pretty sure that you get hounded all of the time from people wanting you to fit their cars in, but I suspect that 'thanks' or 'kudos' are a bit more infrequent.  I wanted to make sure to say thank you (& I can't wait to see it for myself!).

Thanks for that. Yes, you are right. The complaints are running at about 4 to 1 compared to thanks. We did run every single entry we got, with the exception of about 15 of them that were unusable for technical reasons. If it does well on the newsstand, we'll make it a yearly event.

Next up: the Fifth Annual PHR photo contest sponsored by Nitto Tires!

Sorry to hear about the crummy ratio, but I guess that's human nature - at least to some extent.

If it does well on the newsstand, we'll make it a yearly event.

Well, I certainly hope that it does become a yearly (or at least regular) event - for two reasons:

1) I can see it spurring greater enthusiasm for our hobby.  If "regular guys" like me can have a realistic chance at having our projects displayed for the world to see, it seems reasonable that at least some of those people will be more motivated to spend the extra coin & effort needed to complete their projects.

2) Speaking only for myself, the greatest thing about this section was the human-interest information that was included.  That's also given me a way to engage my wife, & hopefully get her a bit more interested in my car stuff (since women -on the average- generally seem to have less interest in inanimate objects, even if they DO have rumpity cams!).

In my case, since my engine is really pretty new (only made in 2007 & 2008), trying to find less-expensive parts has been an exercise in frustration, where I've usually had to throw my hands up & buy everything new (& all too often from the GM dealership). And you can imagine what that's done to the budget...

Add in the fact that I'm trying to build my own headers, decipher the '08 truck wiring harness & mate it to the '89 car, & look for another job -I was unemployed for a few months recently- and my project seemed more like 'something I was sentenced to' rather than a hobby.

Seeing how others are pushing through obstacles that frequently dwarf my own is truly invaluable, & worth a LOT more than the relatively short-lived ego boost from seeing your own car in the mag.

So thanks especially for that.
