I ordered a 347 last spring. They were backed up and said 8-10 weeks and said what ever. I toured the shop as I live within 200 miles and everything looked good at that point. It took 16 weeks to get but I had to do a lot on my 68 mustang and get my AOD first so I didn't get it in my car for 6 months. It started right up and it just screams down the road. I have about 1,200 miles on it and they are petal to the metal miles. No problems so far but all of these negative posts scare me.
Wish me luck. This weekend I'm putting the car on a dyno at a show in Atlanta.

IT IS NOW IN MY GARAGE. I got a call from Rob at T&L letting me know that the dyno is scheduled and if I was coming down to watch. I went to the shop Lloyd was there and ready for me. engine was on dyno all dressed exactly as I had ordered. We ran engine several times, discussed all aspects of what I would need, etc. Lloyd was very good to deal with, Rob was a great help with getring this put together. Yes it took too long to get it but once it fired up and the goose bumps went away it was worth it. Took it off the dyno , cleaned it up put it in the truck and I broghtr it home with me. Keep talking to Rob, They are slow but I really think it was a good choice for them to build this for me my 64 fairlane will be ready for this 400+ hp webber carb'd powerplant

I ordered a motor from these clowns in Feb.08 and still have not received it. I get the same BS everyone else is getting. No truth comes out of Robs or Lloyds mouth. Good at engine building maybe be. But 17 months for a motor is insane. Can't seem to get a straight answer from anyone down their. Obviously they do not do motors in the order they are received because I have yet to find anyone waiting longer. To the guys in this magazine. You should read your threads and help out the working man out their just trying to get something for their hard earned money.

Finally recieved engine (16 months) looks good but was missing carburetor. Called and was told it would ship at end of week. Hope it makes it here faster than the engine. Dyno sheet showed 527 FT.LBS torque and 533 HP. Probably wont get to drive it this year as its time to begin putting things away for winter but i will see in the spring. I am debating disassembling to inspect and measure clearances due to reading various posts such as topgun41 and others. I am not too concerned with A warranty as it seems not too many get A response from the builder. I will post when engine is in the car and running even if its snowing and cant be driven.

Hello Here Jan from Holand,
I bought a 383 from T&L in sept 2008 and got it febr 2009. Not a problem until then. When I open the box I saw there where a few parts missing Aircleaner/Waterneck and carburator.
I called them and sent a e-mail and the prommesed me to sent it a.s.a.p. now 8 months later many many mails and phonecalls later they still not sent the parts. When I call Rob he says this week we make everything okay.
I even sent Loyt a personal letter at his home adres, bud he never responce on to it. Olso mailt and sent everything to the office of justice department in NC, bud they olso never get back to me.
I think they make a bad name for the american buisines.

I talked to Lloyd a couple of times about a motor during early Oct '09. He emailed me a price quote. I sent my $2,500 deposit in mid Oct '09. That was two weeks. I have sent a couple of emails and called twice with no return call or email. I wish I had seen this thread before I got into this. Supposedly, somebody had ordered 6 motors and was trying to get out of the delivery and he got me one of those that was already in process. I was to ship him my 3/2s, intake and distributor and he would dyno with my stuff, send me a video of my motor being dynoed, dyno results and ship motor back to me, complete and ready to install within one week after receiving my parts. We'll see but I can't even get a response to emails or call. I'm really concerned about a motor??

My recollection is that when our motor was shipped, thae carb was not in the box either. That came on a different day in a different box.

On or about 11-18-2007 I saw an advertisement for T & L Engine Development on E-Bay. I sent them a question concerning their engine’s oil pan and they answered by sending their telephone number to me. I called T & L Engine Development on 11-21-2007 and we made a deal on a 408 cubic inch Chevrolet small block engine. This engine was to be complete and tested with results of testing supplied. I was quoted a price of $6,972.00. I paid in full with check # 131 (copy enclosed). I was promised a three month delivery time.
After three months had passed I started calling them early in the morning @ 704-888-8111. Most of the time their telephone was answered by an answering machine telling the caller to leave a message and phone number and the call would be returned. None of my calls were ever returned. The following is a reflection of my telephone records regarding the status of my engine and their reply: 7-22-08 @ 6:15 AM PST…. I was told that my cylinder heads were on backorder. * This proved to be untrue. I called AFR, a company I have done business with since 1982, and they confirmed that T & L Engines was one of their customers and that NO cylinder heads had been on backorder for the previous three years.* 4-21-09 @ 6:30 AM PST… I was told that my engine was in final assembly. 5-20-09 @ 6:21 AM PST… I was told to wait for two weeks while they caught up on their work. 7-01-09 @ 6:15 AM PST… I was told that it would be delivered “any week now”. 7-20-09 @ 6:12 AM PST… I was told it was finished and waiting to go on the dyno. 8-11-09 @ 6:32 AM PST… I was told their dyno was down and would be repaired in three more days. 8-19-09 @ 6:28 AM PST… I was told that T & L was having “trouble” with their crating company. 8-26-09 @ 6:AM PST… Someone giving the name of Russ told me “any week now again”. 9-10-09 @ 6:23 AM PST … Someone giving the name of Rob said it was almost ready to ship. 9-08-09 … I sent a letter of demand to T & L Engine by certified mail. The return receipt was signed by Lloyd McCleary on 10-13-09. (copy enclosed) 10-13-09 @ 6:12 AM PST… I told Rob to relay a message to T & L’s owner that I wanted either delivery or a refund. I was told that T & L did not give refunds. I searched the internet and found many similar complaints about T & L Engines concerning: fraud, failure to deliver goods and services, and shoddy workmanship. At the very least, if a refund is finally given, T & L Engine development and Lloyd McCleary is guilty of forcing their customers into giving T & L a no interest unsecured loan.

Hello All, I'm in the same boat, I ordered a 383 I-4 TK, stroker from T&L back in July 6th '09, I made this purchase based on magazine tech articles using T&L engines, Oct 7th '09, I got an email with what appears to be my motor on the dyno, its now Nov 13th and still haven't recieved it, all my phone calls, and emails are disregarded, as communications from T&L doesn't exist. It doesnt matter what day or time of my phone calls, its the same thing.... the answering machine. Forget calling on fridays, they are supposedly in the back working in the dyno room.

I shipped my 3/2s, distributor, chrome oil pan, carb jets and gaskets to T&L. Got confirmation from FedEx that they were received by T&L on Tues, 11/10/09. I got a call from Lloyd on Wed, 11/11/09 that they were unpacking my parts on that day and that my motor was due to be dynoed next week (11/16-20/09). I'm just hoping my situation will be different. Strange thing about this forum. Nobody has sent in that they were pleased with their transaction?? I assure you, if my deal works as previously explained, I will be the first to pat their back.

My update, on Nov 18 recieved a call from the frieght company saying I was to expect a package delivery on Nov 19. I then recieved a call in the AM of Nov 19th, from T&L giving me the shipping company's name and a tracking number. Upon getting off work I went and picked up my package from the frieght company, making sure the crate wasn't damaged, I took it home, then removed the top and one side, there sitting on a metal engine cradle, was my engine, but one slight problem... there was no carb., it was not packaged with the engine, so I get to start all over on getting the carb that goes with the motor. The paperwork that was included wasn't what I was expecting, most of it was very vague regarding the specs of the motor. The engine dyno'd at 486hp@5800, and 478trq@5100, so it is more than I was expecting. I ordered the 383 stroker rated near 475hp with Dart Iron Eagle heads, so with that I'm pleased.
