im writing to anyone that can help me with a question about an old issue that came out. i enjoy this mag because its geared in my opinion to backyard diyers, and im a little stumped about an article between june and august of 2008. there was a guy who did a buildup of a 305 chevy and made 364 horses. my question is how did he put those aluminum heads with 2.00 inch intake and 1.55 exhaust on such a small bore. im hearing from the tech guys at summit racing that they will hit the pistons and the largest you can run are 1.94 and 1.50. i know most people dont care about 305s because of the bore situation but i already rebuilt it and i dont have the time to do it on a 350. did the builder use those heads just to see how much power he could make not caring if it would be reliable. i just need to know if i can use those heads because nowadays i cant blow 1350.00 just to find out theyll collect dust. any help will be appreciated. ps i finally subscribed, man thats way cheaper that newstands cost.thanks

I would not recommend using heads with 2.00" intake valves due to clearance issues and valve shrouding which can cause a lose in power I do not recommend going larger than A 1.94 intake valve on a 305 and I have built a few with great results.

any thing else just ask

The sqat is unbelieveable in the ass end of the truck I have a post on here trying to find out about what type of hp im making but the cam I have is meant for a 350 but it fits in perfect and have not any problems and it is either a 540 or 454 series cam and it came out of a dirt track motor. Chevy small block, generation one, cams are interchangeable...but don't the roller cams run different distributor gear material, that can chew up a softer, non-roller cam distributor gear?  Or is that just on Ford's 5.0?

Yes with the roller cam you need a different distributor gear.
