Okay The basic question is, What is street ready?

I see motors in magazines with 250 dur@.50 or more in motors making 400-500-600 HP and with radical lift #'s like .535-.610. These are street motors?

If I had a 10.5.1 compression 327 with a holley strip dominator, isky305cam, str8 headers, 3500 stall and 4.56 gears, a 800cfm carb and a th350 is that street ready?

Would I be able to go on the power tour?

 I am 26yrs old. I have had a 94 Chevy Silverado(350/GM4L60E/3.73), a 77 trans am(355SBC/76cc heads/Edelbrock 600 carb 1406, EPS intake/ peformer plus cam, TH350/3.08), and a 65 Olds F-85(358SBC, 993heads, 292 comp cam, 670 holley carb, air gap rpm, th350, 12 bolt posi w/3.90's.

I'm not an expert, but my Olds F-85 was by far the most fun, but I was too scared to leave town in it. On the back roads in the country it wouldn't feel like it was cruising till about 2500-3000RPM, but I felt like I was moving slow(no speedometer/215/60R14 tires i think)and turning too many rpms to be cruising(What is safe?) I wanted a 5 spd to put in it but money & timing was wrong and I needed to get rid of it.

Now I have a large journal 327 crank(3911001), a 4bolt main block(14010207), and another set of 461x camelhumps, and was wondering what are the benefits of useing a 327(Classic fav from the older guys I talk to)?

I am planning on putting a Dana 44 rear with 3.73 gears and hoping the find a camaro 5spd(Or s10). I would like to build something truelly street but a high performance street. Not a race car that is on the street.

I am a little behind with the "HOTROD" scene but love american muscle.  I am building a different toy(1800-2000 LBS., 93" wheelbase, 2seater) now but this is the motor I would like to build. Not much low TQ but high RPM HP..??

Basically a street friendly motor with a stick and 3.73 gears. I want to be able to drive without cooling problems or having to be hauling a$$ everywhere I go to keep from bogging the motor down. No RPM's higher than 7000?, I don't know much about the 327sbc so I would like some help.

 PS LOVE THE MAGAZINE

I am favoring these products:
Edeldrock RPM air gap
Cam shaft? (Have a 268H Comp Cam)
Not sure about 6" rods or 5.7 rods
Keith Black Flat top Pistons
Reworked 461X 64cc heads(Already have)
Maybe a 375 Nostalgic cam?

Ok. I have a 327 in my 57 chevy. It is a small main bearing with a factory steel crank. Stock rods with a set of 041 casting heads. It has a edelbrock performer rpm cam 236-242@50 with 491-501 @50 lift. I am using a comp roller rocker 1.6 witch brings the lift into the 540 area. The heads have been cut, ported, polished and gasket matched. I have 410 gears with  tko 600 5sdp trans. R.P.M. air gap intake with a Berry Grant speed demon 650 carb.  This is very streetable, I driv the car everywhere.
Best of all I kicked the *** out of my buddies 396 rs/ss camaro.
I do not see an advantage to running a 327. They do have more torque then you are giving the credit for. They have a great rod ratio witch gives you a broad torque curve. However; a nice 355 with a 6 inch rod or a 383 with a 6 inch rod and a good set of aftermarket heads (that is the key) will set your tires on fire.
