Very interesting article on clutches here.
I recently went through the selection process ... information overload ... and while Center Force probably has the most unquestioned brand loyalty and sales, what tipped the balance in my application was the fact that the centrifugal force effect is debatably, not realized until about 6000 RPM.
Of course there are many opinions, but they all seem to agree that it is at a fairly high RPM, well over 5000.
Static clamping pressure, on the other hand, seems more applicable to vehicles such as mine that will never be launched at anywhere close to those high RPMS and that's where the Ram PowerGrip 98764 seems to come out ahead at a static clamping pressure of 3000 lbs, compared to the 24, 2500 figure for the others.
Info supplied to Summit by Ram rates it conservatively at up to 550 HP and it is the only SFI certified one in the bunch., as far as I can find.
When you are making 500 torque at 2500, it seems to me that Ram is on the right track with the big clamp.
All this for around $325.00 .... Good deal.
