What is with the Nitto tires? Been going to Talladega for over 30 years and have never seen a set of Nitto tires on the track. Bob G. Pumpkin Center, NC

A set of yellow letter Goodyears would look very cool on this car.

I don't know what they run in downtown Pumpkin Center, NC, but I bet it's not race-only Goodyears. I chose the Nittos because they're about the same size as the old stock car tires, they're very sticky, and they're street-legal. Nitto also takes a very active role in our segment of the hobby. Goodyear, on the other hand, doesn't even know you and I exist.

project Talladega also doesn't have a fully gutted race interior, that doesn't make it any less bad ass!

Great Job Johnny! As a PHR subscriber, 1st GM owned a 73 Malibubu (which I loved), and current owner of 73 Grand Am, I was pleased to see your coverage of the NASCAR and other 73-77 A-Body GM's.
Perhaps all of you will enjoy this 1973 Grand Am link as well: www.tachrev.com/GrandAm1973-75.htm for Grand Am 1973-75 info
And this Team Associates 1973 Nascar Grand Am page: www.tachrev.com/GrandAm1973Nascar.htm
We greatly appreciated our 73 Grand Am used as a PHR Factoid feature in 2007: www.tachrev.com/Johengenspg5.htm#PHRLilly_Medjpg
Keep up the great work! LMKWUT

I agree with Johnny. I have Nitto's on my 75 TA. For a street tire they hook very good. They are less money than the MT's. I got caught in a very heavy downpour when I was going 55. The Nitto drag radials acted like a normal set of radial tires. My ET Street radials I would have been in a ditch.
