I was just wondering if the 305 that engine masters did is still alive and also could you tell me what the cost of the whole build was and was it worth it?

Do yourself a favor - forget the 305 . You cannot get decent sized valves and the combustion chamber is so small , it promotes pre ignition and detonation , shouds the valves for no airflow . there are lots good 350 cores around . You are NOT going to save any money by keeping your wheezing 305 .

That's a shame - guess I'll have to tell the guy here with the mid 80's F-bird that runs low 7's in the 1/8 mile at 95 MPH with "Dr. 305" on the window that he needs to find a better motor.

It can be done , give us some particulars on your friend's 305 . I mean there are stock eliminator cars that run well , restricted to 305s , but if you have to subject yourself to a small bore , SMALL valve engine , for no good reason , as there are way too many 350s available . Just trying to help a brother out my friend . Is this how you welcome a new member , with wiseguy comments ??

well unfortunitly i am pretty much done with the engine gonna fire it tomorrow we'll see how it goes but yes that is my next project is the 350 but for the 305 build instead of the eq lighting vortec heads i decided to put the summit performance vortec heads with the 3 angle valve job and a 1.94 intake and a 1.5 exhaust a 67cc chamber and the z 28 springs

so , let me see if I have this straight ? you have 1.94 heads on a 305 , you know , if you don't notch the tops of the cylinders [bad move on a thin small block , BBC has notches from the factory ] your valves are going to hit the cylinders ? Do you have a really big overbore on the 305 ? are you using a really low lift -under.400 cam ? who told you 1.94s fit a 305 ?

He's got a point - hope you checked piston-to-valve clearance and valve to cylinder wall.

not ragging on anyone . the puny bore size can only handle a 1.72 intake valve .

these guys get a 1.84 - eq performance - used on the engine masters 305 - I stand corrected CH305A Chevrolet 5.0 305 96 - 00 12552520, 12557113, 12558059 176cc intake runner, 58cc combustion chamber $317.09 1.840” 1.500
imagine the extra power you would get from the slightly higher priced 350 ?????
I hope these don't cause the dreaded 305 ping !!!

amazing what you can do when you can design heads and move the valves to where you want them , hope the valves aren't too shrouded like the GM 305 !
