Chevy 383 stroker, one of the 69-79 vette/truck blocks, 1 piece felpro gasket, 1st pan aluminum didnt seam to fit right over the timing cover, gasket seem to be too thick, with gasket out pan sat down nice. Figured it may be the pan (heard some aluminum have issues). Got a 7 qt steel chrome pan same issue, pan hits gasket in center of timing cover and sides are ea about 3/16" from touching, doesnt look like they will pull down and seal good. I have heard about a thin seal sometimes needed on the ends. Does this mean I have to ditch the 1 pc felpro or do they also make a thin version? Or is it possible the timing cover could have sat higher to allow the pan to seat better?
