i just bought a 1971 nova with a 6 cyl. so i drove it home from detroit yesterday and there was a real bad steering problem in the right side. so we took off the wheel and the hub. (it has drum brakes so no rotors). so turns out the guy who had it before me was driving it around with bad bearings and wore down the inside of the hub so bad that the bearing dont sit right and causes the wheel to wobble and suddenly turn to the right. anyway my problem is finding the hub!. we went to all the auto parts stores in my area they cant get it. i checked ebay and google..and only show rotor/hub assembly's. can anyone tell me where i can find this part?. also i only need it for a few months till winter comes and then im converting it to disk brakes. srry for the long story..but i really need this part.
thanks

So, the spindle's ok, it's just the hub that's messed up?
Take the hub to your local machine shop, see if the can get the bearing race out (what the bearing rides on in the hub) and put a new race in your old hub to fix it. If this won't work, then go to plan B.
Plan B is finding an X-body donor car that you can get a hub from. Hit the Nova/Chevy II message boards and post what you're looking for. There are enough guys who've converted cars to disc brakes, they've probably got hubs lying around. Also, look up "front bearing hub" or "front wheel hub" on eBay and see what that gets you. If none of this works, then go to Plan C.
Plan C is, if you're gonna convert the car to discs this winter anyway, just go ahead and do it now. Most conversion kits take a weekend at worst to install, and will get you running safely no problem. You can always go back and modify things this winter to your exact liking.

Yeah, you don't want to be driving in a car with steering or braking problems, and installing Disk brakes can't be much more expensive or time consuming to fix domething you are going to replace at a later point any way.
