hi in the magazine engine masters volume 11,no.4,thy show you that engine the 496 i love the torque line, in it what am looking for in torque,my question is i own a 1972 corvette coupe whit the 454,am making a hot rod whit it in i would like to know if the deck on that engine will clear my hood??? or if there is a better engine whit the same line of torque that will fit more my car???

pat, the question to your answer depends on what type of intake you run.you can run a dual plain intake and it will fit as to where if you were to run a single plain intake you would more than likely have clearence problems. with a dual plain you will be able to get the amount of torque you desire with out sacrifice
