I was very disapointed with the latest remake of Project X. I've followed along with that 57 Chevy for as long as I've been reading PHR and I've always felt like it was an "everymans" car. Not too exotic, not too perfect, but a car that looked great but could be thrashed on, and driven within an inch of it's life, everyday. With this latest rebuild, you turned it into a one off, money is no object show queen. I know you will argue that it will be driven, but it is no longer a car that any Joe Blow could build. You'll argue that it rides great and handles like a Vette. Hey, it's a 57 Chevy, if you want to have a car ride and handle like a Vette, buy a Vette. I'm sorry this is such a long rant, but I feel very let down by you guys. That new 427 would have been better put to use holding down the front end of a sky high, straight tube axle, gasser clone. Oh well, at least you can sell it on Barrett-Jackson now to some idiot with more money than brains.

The sad thing is, '57 Chevy's basically got out of the realm of the "everyman" years ago, but i actually like the newest incarnation of Project X

I am also very disapointed with project X. The wheels look like something you would see on pimp my ride. It just shows how much GM is out of touch with the real hot rodders. It is the worst version I have seen of this great car.

Project X is perfect!!!! I would NOT change a thing on it now. GMPP built perhaps the "best ever" Project X '57 Chevy. I have loved this car since day one and this latest version is my dream car. I think it's time to find another '57 Chevy to play with. What I love the best is the engineering that went into the car. Yeah, it's high tech but I'm going to "steal" some of those ideas and apply them to my car. I think that is what hot rodding is all about, admireing someone elses work and modifying to suit your needs. What an honor it must be for PHR to have their beloved Project X "tweeked" by GM.

Sorry dude, but you're on crack. Project X is better than ever in it's current state.
You have to remember, Project X has always evolved with the times. In today's world, guys who're building cars (pretty much any cars) want them to ride and handle like the modern stuff. Sometimes you can do this using the stock suspension design with upgraded parts, other times it requires grafting on late model pieces liek they did with Project X.
On the wheels, I talked with the guy who designed them, he used design elements form the 70s rally wheels, and if you look closely you can see it. Yeah, they're a bit big (I'm a 15-16 inch wheel guy myself) but again, the trend today is with larger diameter wheels than some of us might prefer.

Project X has been an inspiration to all of us Hot Rodders out there in one or other of its forms. The last two are the best.
But it is time to retire it and create Project Y as the editors have proposed. With the latest iteration of X it can be no better and it has the historical importance of being done by GM Perfomance. X has now entered the realm of historically significant and an icon in the world of Popular Hot Rodding. To change it from its present form would be to rob us of an icon.

I support retirement of Project X. The 55-57 Chevrolet are beautiful works or art and will continue to be icons of automotive history. Retire Project X with an Anniversary Small Block. This is the 50th anniversary for the Big Block Chevrolet and to place the ZL-1 Anniversary Motor in a Chevrolet that historically never came with one was off the Mark. I would like to explain Y. RPO ZL1 was offered only in Corvette. A Project Y? What about a Project Y as is Y-Body? I would like to see a car built like (July 1969 issue) of Zora's white ZL-1 Corvette.

Take it out and crush it! Or better yet sell it on Money Jackson and get rich off of some no nothing slob. It looks like one of those billet laden bling piles of shine that they sell on there anyway. Hopefully someone who respects that cars history will return it to its glory days. Yeesh! what a POS. Just heard you DID auction it! One of the smartest things you have done.
