Hello everyone, I recently read an article about an idea for buick to develop a v8 buick gnx, without a turbo due to costs would be too high. I hope this doesn't happen. The main reason I like buick gn's and t types and gnx's is the fact they only had a v6 turbo. I know tons of horsepower can be generated from a monster v8, but I do't think there is anything special about that. I like getting the monster horsepower from a v6 turbo, a smaller engine that can whoop v8 butt. And who doesn't like the whistling of the turbos spooling up? What does everyone think?

I doubt you'll ever see Buick build anything like that again. GM's pretty much let the Buick line become the lead brand for retirees, or people who want the most blah car possible.

I agree with phill, it's sad to say but the gentleman's muscle car Buick days are long behind us. Also, it seems as if GM doesn't know what to do with Buick, so they got Tiger Woods to try to hock 'em off to the old timers.

sure it can whoop stock v8 except for the corvette with the big block, thats the turbo doing all the work. also i can't see it being more expensive to turbo a v8..i'm sure the turbo doesn't know what kind of motor its hooked up to....as far as the 08 gnx...pontiac has the gto..

Besides the fact that Buick got out of the performace game along time ago, I can imagine that if they did bring back the GNX they would stick with the Turbo. With the popularity of the Subaru WRX STi and the Lacer Evolution, and hell even BMW is on the turbo bandwagon with the 335i, I can't imagine them not sticking a Turbo six in a return model of the GNX. but again these are just pipe dreams.

A new GNX would be awesome. I can see a nice twin turbo model.

KT Engine Development is working on a turbo Buick motor you might find interesting. It is going into an old Grand National but supposed to be something Buick would build if they were doing it now. Not finished yet, but the goal is to make over 700 hp. There's video of it at streetmuscleaction.com.

While a cool idea, I'm not sure how well the public would latch onto that setup.
