do you still have a set of gaskets that were removed?
can you cut them into slices so you can measure the gasket crush with a dial caliper.... if you have a 0-1" micrometer you could measure it without the need to cut it apart...
you are going to read the amount of crush that remains after the intake and gasket is removed...
be sure to examine the end seals also..
when i put on intake manifolds.. i like to use various sealers on differnt locations...
if the motor is going together for a long time.. i glue the intake set to the heads with the black weather strip adhesive.. apply the adhesive and set the gasket in it... then separate for a minute or two... then reinstall the gasket and hold it in place lightly with bolts while it sets... this stops it from moving when you set the intake on...
if the motor is going together for the long haul.. i use ultra silicone around the water passages... and hylomar around the intake and exhaust crossover passages...
if the motor comes apart often... just white grease or hylomar on the intake side of the gaskets...that prevents the gaskets from pealing apart when the intake is removed for service...
i always go around 3 or 4 times with the 3/8 drive torque wrench starting as low as the setting can go... this cinches it down fully and evenly...X pattern... then around after you reach final torque... to double check...
to get the gaskets off without tearing up the machined surfaces... purchase a 5 way scraper... it has a wide thick blade with a curve cut out on one side and a triangle tip on the other ... and a diamond file to keep it razor sharp... sharpen it sideways along the file to keep the edge totally straight...
