I have been told E85 fuel has more octane than standard pump gas, if true what is needed to convert an 1994 caprice police interceptor to E85? Thanks 77jeep.

Hey Man- You can convert your car to run on E85 or gas with a conversion kit. They are available at http://www.change2E85.com. These kits were invented over 20 years ago in Brazil.

No. This is not true.
E85 has less energy potential than an equivalent amount of gasoline. If you look at it in BTUs (British Thermal Units), E85 has about 75% of the BTUs that gasoline has, and Nitromethane is even lower. This is why E85/Alcohol and Nitro need so much more spark energy for the combustion process.
Plus, you have to remember the corrosive properties of alcohol based fuel. If you convert to E85, you have to go through the whole fuel system. And you still have to deal with Alkyline buildup.

Yeah, I would be wary of the effects E85 would have on your seals and like Phill says, the entire fuel system.
The only reason E85 is so popular right now, is its "environmental" capabilities, what they don't tell you is the decreased gas mileage you get with e85
