Steven Rupp did a great article all about insurance in I believe the Sept. issue. I'll see if I can get the article online.

Also look out if you have to state that you won't race your car. Depending on the provider there will be nomenclature describing what they determine "racing" to be. Location, speed and the issues with the over motorist will effect coverage on a case by case basis.
A friend of mine learned about insurance the hard way when his 74' Chevelle was blindsided by an F-150. He was fine, but suffice to say, the Chevelle is now in auto heaven. Considering he paid a grand for the car and hadn't done any real work on it yet saved him much heartache (he was able to get more than a thousand dollars out of the ordeal) but he completly lost the potential the Chevelle offered.

I have classic car insurance on my '76 Camaro. This is an agreed value policy, which is the kind you want. You'll likely need your car appraised, with photos to support, and you may have limitations on mileage. I have my car insured for $85,000 and my limit is 2,000 miles per year. With four other cars on my policy, the cost isn't high--about $25 per month here in California.
