I am a new guy....
I am building a 305 my first engine. I want to have a low compression. I just read an article that is says you can put different strokers to that small block... Is that true can I put a different stroker to 305 with out doing modification on the block? What's the advantage on doing that? Again this is my first engine.
I already have everything out of the engine...

You can get a stroker kit for the 305, it'll take it out to 331. With such a long stroker the motor will make a ton of torque. You'll probably have ot do some clearancing in the block for the crank throws (not hard)and use a small base circle cam.
Advantage to a stroker is more displacement and more torque because of the longer stroke. because of more torque, you get more horsepower.
