Let the car live...let the crossbreeding crap die.
Put a Ford engine back in it and find an S-10, or early Malibu or some other lightweight Chevy body and put that engine in it.
Vinnie my man, I was so proud of your accomplishments up till this project. Please don't disappoint an admiring Ford fan from as far back as your MM&FF days.
Pleeeeeeeze......put a Ford engine back in it. Alan

Put a mod motor in a camero to redeem yourselves. Then to get the message across you are sincere, you have to put a new style baby hemi in a second camero.

i just hadda say, i love this car. the LS1 is a great choice for engine because of the aftermarket backing it has (really, what dont they make for a SBC?), and the cheap, light weight mustangs are everywhere. farther more this isn't anything new, how many of them '32 fords and the like have sbc's in them? i've seen ls1's dropped into the '05 mustangs intead of 351's. i say, why not start an all out war! drop a hemi into a nova or camero, and drop a big block ford into a 'cuda or charger, make it a full circle!
keep up the good work guys!

I should add that I ran into the Orphan at a drag strip in TN.
With a few more mods the car now runs in the 9s (9.86) for far less than $15,000. What's not to love?
Oh and it get's over 20mpg on the highway. lol

It should Die, then Die some more, then Die again all over.
The sooner the better....I just don't get it.
Who is insulted more? GM guys or Ford guys?
No-one seems to have the right answer for this question in regards to crossbreeding.
On a lighter note, I love those General Motors LS series engines! I just don't have the time (or money) right now to switch out my inventory of Ford Vehicles and parts to start over.

kill it.
It is a good question, who is going to get insulted over this? if you wanna find out put a 545 inch production block 460 based stroker under the hood of a chevelle and watch the fireworks fly, i bet my first born child more people will be pissed, and theyre all gonna be GM freaks with no imagination. its always been a double standard.
this project doesnt prove that the LS is better than a ford motor, all it proves is that GM guys are plentiful. i respect the LS, it truly is an awesome motor, but it belongs under the hood of a gm car. if i wanted to see this kind of thing id read super chevy. if you wanna see some awesome budget ford builds then why dont you GM loyalists open your eyes, cause plenty of them are out there.
Bottom line, ford guys, and probably even mopar lovers, are tired of this junk. if this mag wants to become super chevy 2, then i suggest they go ahead and piss off the loyal ford fans that read the mag, cause i will for sure stop reading if the chevy in a ford(or dodge) trend keeps up.

Reading this thread is quite intresting. I already have SN95 Mustang that has had a 350 Chevy drivetrain swapped into it and have wanted to swap an LSX based motor into a foxbody. The ironic thing is I stumbled onto this particular swap today after searching and sourcing all my parts to do the swap in the past weeks on my on. AJE Racing makes a k-member and Kooks headers makes long tube headers for the swap using AJE's k-member and Painless Wiring makes a good aftermarket wiring harness specific to the custom LSX swaps. As far as s SBC vs SBF I think the argument is pointless. The days of being in high school with not a lot of money and trying to work on the 66 chevy truck my dad handed down made me thankful how cheap and plentiful parts were to come by for a Chevy motor. I'll be following the build closely and come spring hope to have mine done with Maggy and a little spray.

We talked about putting a BBFord into a GM vehicle over at www.460ford.com and were wondering what would be the best choice?
I say put it in the most sacred Chevy of all time....the 69 Camaro (preferably a Z-28)
Think a magazine would feature it if it ran high 7's (quarter), got 32 mpg, and cost less than 20 grand to build and won 10 big name car shows?...Heck no they wouldn't !!!!
The reason why not:...it is a CROSSBREED !!!!
I am a Ford guy and subscribe to 7 GM only magazines. I like GM cars, I just cannot afford them. Maybe someday.

Major thumbs down. I agree with a previous poster. No way that's going to be a major cost savings over a good SBF stroker. It's just typical Chevrolet-is-better-than-Ford stuff we're used to. When are you gonna' do that BBF in a Chevelle project anyway?
