After all the smoke clears which car do you think will be on top? What do you think of the revived rivalry between the big three? Are muscle cars back for good? Let us hear your opinion

Well with gas prices creeping back up to $3 and above, who really cares? I love these cars as much as the next gear head but lets face it, I can have my cake and eat it too by doing an engine swap into a 95 Dakota (6.1 Hemi from a wreck), 6.0 LS engine into a 78 Pontiac 4 door Lemans, etc. Point is the technology is there and great for performance, the price tag for these new cars is way out of my real or imagined budget. Does it really matter who is on top? I am just glad the relics will be back on the streets.

very true, and these ricers are making me sick with their little whining motors making ying ding sounds... I'm aiming for a 67 chevelle, but I still need a little more cash to make my street rod a reality.

I would like to think the Mustangs will win. A smaller powerplant that is capable of better mileage and makes great power. Now they just need to trim that weight down some. They are built solid, but are just too heavy. They really need about 500 lbs knocked off.

Not wanting to be blindly patriotic or anything but the Camaro is going to kick the pants off both of its' rivals for one simple reason, the people who designed it's chassis and suspension have over 35 years of UNBROKEN racing and high performance car design and construction experience behind them - Holden Australia The people behind the new Challenger are marketing yuppies and both it and the Mustang have primitive engineering compared to the Camaro.
The muscle car era never really stopped in Australia like it did in the US when the 70s fuel crisis and your emissions control laws came along. While GM in the US was making lamer and lamer and uglier and uglier 'performance' cars through the mid 70s to late 80s GM (Holden) Australia was churning out gut wrenching, butt wobbling screamers like this:
Torana SS
and this:
HDT Commodore
designing their new Zeta chassis, the first car of which is the fab VE Commodore (or Pontiac G8 as you guys will know it next year)... check out the hot SS model:
VE Commodore SS
or as the G8:
Pontiac G8

They will all sell for 2 reasons:
1. It is not shaped like an egg like ALL the other new cars.
2. Performance cars only have TWO doors.
