Hey I've been subscribing to this magazine for a couple of years now and i have never seen a feature on a hot rod truck. I know that they are out there because there are several where i live. My father owns a '76 chevy 1/2 ton with a modified 350 and i just got a '78 chevy 1/2 ton and im still shopping for an engine. Yeah I've seen the occasional pic of a truck at an event but you guys have never payed any real attention to pickups. I'm not saying that i want to see 4X4's but there are several autocross capable trucks just begging for a feature. No 4X4 magazines will feature them because they don't have tires that look like they had more that their fair share of steroids and they don't get attention from hot rod magazines because the aren't cars. Since this magazine is dedicated to doing things that are outside the box I hope that I can see some hot rod truck features.

yeah trucks can be some bad mofo's, even factory trucks like the Ram srt-10, Lightning, and GMC Syclone are pretty bad machines. Plus you have the bonus of being a sleeper.

yep thats what im aimin for with mine..... and hopefully once its all together (which may be a year or two off but it will be goin fast soon.... the visuals will take a bit longer though) ill be able to get it featured as an affordable ride..... really affordable...... i bought it from a wrecker lot for $500 with a mostly clean body and a crappy paint job thats good enough to stop most of it from rusting any further.... im puttin an engine in it ASAP and a cam swap and some induction equipment are in the near future after that..... then income tax next year will finish off the body and paint...... ive got about $500 dollars of rust damage to the rocker panels and the doors and then im doin paint. i figure on have less than $3000 dollars in it runnin in the range or 13's..... hopefully better.... but thats not bad for less than $3000. if anyone wants to see more pics just let me know.

Yep, Trucks can be made into some fearsome hotrods. I've owned and driven a number of '60's Mopar muscle cars including a Hemi GTX and they were all a blast to drive. My favorite of all time though is my current project. It's a 1960 Dodge D100, for it's first 15 years or so I powered it with a low 12 second 440 and it surprised it's fair share of 'Muscle cars'. In January I finally finished building and installing a 528 Hemi in the truck. I won't bore you with all the motors specs but it does feature a rather large mechanical flat tappet cam, 2-1/8" equal length custom headers with 3-1/2" duels with UltraFlows, and a Weiand 2x4 Tunnelram with 2 750's.(Everything fits under the factory hood without a scoop.) I run ram air through the inner headlite sockets. I don't have any current timeslips yet as I'm still in the process of upgrading the brakes, chassis, and rearend to SAFELY pass tech. I am fairly confident that 10's on pumpgas won't be a problem with a good pair of slicks. I can tell you though that on the street it's one insanely crazy Elephant. Getting on the throttle at any speed under 60mph results in wheel spin. I'll try and post a short clip and pics. If the clip works it's passing a couple cars running about 60mph. Shortshifted at 7000 and eased out of it. Dave
