I have a question about the recommended side clearance for the connecting rods on a BBC. I am in the process of building a 496 big block and want to get more information on this question. A few sources state the .015 to .025 range, but this seems to be a popular small block sizing. I am finding that big blocks tend to require more clearance than a small block. So does anyone have ideas on the sizing? Is it more like .020 to .030 for a big block? Many Chevy manuals seem to state around this size.
