While I was happy to see the 65 Olds 442 in the swap meet deals article in the current issue, I'm curious about the "numbers matching" 400 engine. Since Olds didn't start stamping the VIN-derivative on the engine until the 1968 model year, perhaps you can enlighten us as to exactly what numbers "match".
Oh, and the air cleaner housing is wrong, too.
This must be bad Olds info month at Primedia. Car Craft mis-identified a 67 Olds W-30 as the much more rare (one of 54) 1966 model. Apparently Car Craft staffers had a hard time telling the difference between the 67's 4bbl and the 3 x 2bbl setup used in 66.
At least you guys got the year right...
