Hey everybody if your reading this thanks. I need a little bit of help, I'm 16 years old and attempting to learn as much as possible about cars to help catch up to the muscle car crowd since its mostly dominated by, well men older than me no one gives me respect at the shows. One thing I've been tossing back and forth is the idea of putting a nos kit into my 69 chevelle. Right now I have a 350 .030 over with a few small modifications. I've talked it over with my dad and we've decided to buy another small block, were going to go with a 350 block again .030 over then with the 400 crank to stroke it to a 383, after that we havent decided much besides the fact that we'd like to run nos, neither of us have much knowledge about it such as what kit would be best for a street/strip application so I figured I'd turn to you guys. We also plan to swap my th350 out with a 4 speed this winter, we just had to do the rear end, I was on my way down to columbus ohio for the super chevy show and the rear end locked up from lack of lube and took a few teeth off the pinion so we had to swap it out for a gm 10 bolt 3.43non posi rear. I'm not trying to turn my chevelle into a strip only car, its my daily driver to school and around town with my friends, but I would like to see it lay down some better times. Any help would be much appreciated even as to point me in the direction of a good book or another forum anyone knows of that could help me out. Thanks for your time... Eric.

Most manufacturers offer basic nitrous kits that you can install in just a few hours. An adjustable 75-150hp is a great place to start. A word of warning though - the use of nitrous is very addictive so make sure you have a place to fill the bottle up nearby! Follow the manufacturers instructions as far as changing the spark plugs and ignition timing when using timing. One thing that would help you out is to use an adjustable timing knob like the type that MSD offers to use with a 6AL ignition box. That way you wont have to go under your hood to drop your timing - just turn the knob down and start spraying!
