I am a huge fan of David Vizard and his writing, he has done some of the most in depth technical articles which I have seen anywhere and manages to explain things in terms which the average reader can understand. Having said that, I believe that both he and PHR blew it with the fuel injection test. This was the perfect opportunity to incorporate the dyno reading for Brake Specific Fuel Consumption (BSFC), yet it wasn't done. There were references to better fuel mileage, but no definitive numbers.

Your magazine has catered to both the environment and to the sport of hot rodding by testing and advocating overdrive transmissions. Fuel injection falls into the same sort of category and is used not only on "Project Cars", but on a lot of daily drivers and especially tow vehicles. Give us some real world numbers on the fuel mileage improvements so that we may see for ourselves if the investment has a reasonable pay back time frame. It doesn't seem to me like it would have been much of a problem to plug some basic numbers into the dynometer for approximate horsepower used at an approximate RPM for a 70 MPH cruise and see what the BSFC would be for both the carb and the F.I.

I would like to see much more use and disclosure of the BSFC numbers on comparrison tests; the information is there to use, why not share it.

The dyno sheets should have a BSFC column already on them for your to see.  It was probably just not printed.  I'd like to see a comparison of the BSFC vs. Lambda on both systems printed.

I thought the article was great.  Of course, I'm biased and believe the Commander system was the second best improvement I did to my 69 Nova (first being a 5spd).  

I think you should carry the EFI vs carb two steps further...put it on a rowdy setup and see how they compare as well as install it in a vehicle and show the real value of EFI...you mentioned it, but demonstrate the throttle response, mileage, the calming of a 'hot' engine.

Additionally, I'm a sucker for real world projects from A to Z as in your Thunderchicken from years ago (Hunkins) to the current g/28.  Install a Holley system on it and see the diffs...even emission test it since you were concerned with that on the build up.
